David Angenendt

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer in Economics at the Department of Economics and Policy, TUM School of Management, Technical University of Munich. My research lies at the intersection of innovation economics, intellectual property, and industrial organisation. In current projects, I study trade secrets and vertical contracts, patent and disclosure policy, the measurement of innovation using patent data, and firms’ engagement with universities.

I am also a Research Associate at the Centre for Business Research at the University of Cambridge. In 2019, I received my PhD in Economics from the University of Bologna.

The Private Cost of Legal Uncertainty: Evidence from the Unitary Patent Court suggests that patent applicants were hesitant to utilize the novel Unitary Patent Court for all their patents, despite substantial cost savings that would have been possible.

My regular schedule of teaching activities at TUM School of Management:

Every winter term, I deliver my course on the Economics of Technology & Innovation (undergraduate).

In the summer term, I host the "Advanced Seminar" on the Economics of Digital Platforms (Master's level).
